In common with the passenger rolling stock of most railway companies and administrations, that of the RSR and RK has undergone steady development since the start of railway transport in the country. It was also normal practice for a budding chief engineer to cut his teeth, as it were, on goods and passenger rolling stock before taking charge of locomotives.
